Tuḥfat al-Aṭfāl wa al-Ghilmān fī Tajwīd al-Quran is the short poem by Shaykh Sulaymān al-Jamzūrī with which most students begin the formal study of tajwīd. Composed in 1198 AH, its sixty-one lines cover the rules of nūn sākinah and tanwīn, mīm sākinah, the doubled nūn and mīm, the lām of the definite article, idghām between letters and the types of madd.
This free download presents the Arabic text on a single page, for memorisation and revision. Children and adults alike memorise the Tuḥfah because its rules apply on every page of the muṣḥaf, and a line of verse is retained far more easily than a paragraph of prose.
