The people behind El Badr: Ijazah certified teachers, senior qurrā' and a dedicated support team, united by one task, making authentic Qur'ānic education accessible to students around the world without ever lowering its standard.
Shaykh Ilyaas Badr is a distinguished Quran reciter, author, educational consultant, and international Quran educator from the United Kingdom. He memorised the Quran in Masjid al-Haram, Makkah, later pursued advanced Islamic studies in Egypt, and specialised in The Seven Qira’at at the Islamic University of Madinah. He also holds one of the shortest surviving chains of transmission (isnād) in Quran recitation to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
For over a decade, he has travelled extensively across the world teaching the Quran, delivering seminars, leading workshops, and representing the UK at prestigious international conferences, competitions, and educational initiatives. He is the founder of El Badr Institute and Quran Trace, internationally recognised for producing award-winning Quran resources used by students in over t0 countries. Through his teaching, publications, and educational initiatives, he continues to serve the Quran and inspire learners worldwide.
Career Highlights
Shaykh Yusuf Badr is a distinguished British Quran reciter, educator, and Principal of El Badr Institute. His Quranic journey began in the blessed city of Madinah, where he memorised the Quran and studied within the environment of Masjid an-Nabawi. He later pursued advanced Islamic studies in Egypt and received ijazah in Quran recitation and Tajweed under renowned scholars.
For over a decade, he has travelled internationally teaching the Quran, leading prayers, delivering seminars, and serving as a judge at Quran competitions. Widely respected in the field of Quranic recitation, he has been honoured to lead Salah at some of the Muslim world’s most iconic mosques, including the Grand Çamlıca Mosque and Aya Sofya Grand Mosque in Istanbul, as well as the Al Fateh Grand Mosque in Bahrain. His international engagements have also taken him to countries including Malaysia, South Africa, Canada, Iran, Türkiye, Austria, Bahrain, and Côte d’Ivoire, where he has represented the Quran through recitation, education, and public engagement.
A personal assessment with an Ijāzah certified Qārī: your makhārij, ṣifāt, flow, retention and errors weighed to a professional standard, returned to you with the Qārī's Report, your strengths, weaknesses and a clear roadmap for what to study next.
For serious students at every level. Teachers, imams, ḥuffādh and qurrā' are advised to take the Extended Consultation, a full hour with a senior Qārī.
