A Classical Primer on Tajwīd is Moustafa Elqabbany's annotated English translation of Tuḥfat al-Aṭfāl, the beginners' poem on tajwīd by Shaykh Sulaymān al-Jamzūrī, with the points of articulation added from Ibn al-Jazarī's Muqaddimah. It was published by the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Amman as part of its English Islam Series.
The translation renders each line of the Tuḥfah with notes on the rules of nūn sākinah and tanwīn, mīm sākinah, idghām, the lām of the definite article and madd. The added material on the makhārij from the Muqaddimah makes it a natural bridge from the Tuḥfah to the Jazariyyah.
To have these rules applied and corrected in your own recitation, see Quran Mentorship. For a second English edition with a line by line explanation, see Tuḥfat al-Aṭfāl: Translation and Explanation.
